Hong Hao (chinois, né en 1965) est un photographe contemporain de Pékin. Il suit des cours à la Central Academy of Fine Arts de Pékin, où il étudie au département de gravure, et expose dans le monde entier depuis 1988. Après l’obtention de son diplôme en 1989, Hong réalise sa première grande série d’œuvres, un ensemble de gravures ressemblant à des cartes chinoises, dont une grande attention est portée aux détails.

L’artiste commence à travailler la photographie en 1999 et en 2001 il élabore sa célèbre série My Things. Dans cette collection, Hong scanne des centaines d’objets du quotidien et les dispose côte-à-côte dans des compositions à l’espace réduit. Les objets existent alors dans un chaos contrôlé aux yeux des spectateurs. Cette série explore la culture de consommation chinoise et capte les réflexions de l’artiste sur sa propre vie à travers ses biens et le matérialisme. Hong est l’un des artistes contemporains chinois les plus importants et son travail reflète sa finesse d’esprit et ses capacités d’observation. Ses œuvres sont exposées dans de nombreuses expositions individuelles ou de groupes et font partie des collections de grandes institutions d’art.
