Isca Greenfield-Sanders (américaine, née en 1978) est une peintre, dont le travail mêle photographie, aquarelle, dessin et huile pour créer des images en couches qui brouillent les frontières entre abstraction et figuration. Native de New York, Greenfield-Sanders obtient un diplôme en arts visuels et en mathématiques à l’université Brown en 2000. Puis, elle accepte un poste d’artiste invité à l’académie américaine de Rome et présente ses œuvres lors d’expositions solo ou de groupe à travers les États-Unis et l’Europe.

À travers son travail, Greenfield-Sanders explore les thèmes de la nostalgie, de la mémoire et des idéaux américains en mêlant médias numériques et techniques traditionnelles pour réaliser des peintures à l’huile à partir de photographies vintage. Pour créer ces images, elle scanne puis édite la photo, l’imprime sur une feuille de papier, puis la recouvre d’aquarelle et de crayon de couleur. Le résultat final est un composite de carreaux, dont les sujets vont des terrains de football aux peintures de parachute durant la guerre de Corée en passant par les scènes de plage.

Ses pièces figurent, entre autres, parmi les collections du Guggenheim de New York, du musée Morsbroich en Allemagne, du musée des beaux-arts de Houston et de la collection Progressive dans l’Ohio. Des articles consacrés à son travail sont publiés dans le New York Magazine, Elle Décor et Vanity Fair.

Elle vit et travaille actuellement à New York.
