Born in Chicago, Illinois. Raised by her divorced mother a traveling corset saleswoman.

Dropped out of high school to become an artist

First solo exhibit using her first and middle names: June Claire

moved to New York and worked as a costume jewelry designer in the garment industry

Collaborating with Marcel Durassier in Paris

Early in the 60's she developed a plan to revitalize the art of lithography, producing the Tamarind Lithography Workshop. By the end of the 60's the workshop become an international force in the printmaking arts.
