La peintre et photographe Marilyn Minter (américaine, née en 1948) est surtout connue pour ses peintures hyperréalistes et ses photographies très colorées qui représentent des gros plans du corps humain et examinent ce qui constitue le glamour et la beauté. Née en Louisiane, elle étudie l’art à l’université de Floride et à l’université de Syracuse.

Ses premières œuvres incluent une série de photographies en noir et blanc de sa mère, témoignant de son apparence alors qu’elle est alitée et souffre de toxicomanie. Les dernières œuvres de Minter examinent le grotesque et les beaux côtés de la mode et du glamour, souvent dans des gros plans inconfortables de corps androgynes couverts de paillettes et de perles. La plupart de ses peintures découlent de combinaisons de points de vue créés à travers ses photographies. Ses œuvres reçoivent un accueil mitigé, particulièrement celles qui abordent un côté plus pornographique. Son récent travail comprend des courts métrages et une série de photographies de Pamela Anderson. Elle a été exposée, entre autres, à la Biennale de Whitney, Art Basel et au MoMA de San Francisco. Minter vit et travaille à New York.
