Mary McCartney Donald was born in London in 1969. She has a love of photography which stems from her childhood and her mother, Linda McCartney, who never went anywhere without her camera on her shoulder.

It is 12 years since Mary picked up a camera professionally. She works within fashion photography and intimate portrait studies. Through her photography Mary strives to demonstrate a real insight into her subject matter.

In her colour portraits of Kate Moss, Mary explores the intimate sultry qualities of her sitter and her surroundings. These dusky photographs have a feminine painterly quality to them.

In 2004 Mary began a black and white photographic study entitled OFF POINTE, which involved her trailing dancers from The Royal Ballet Company (London) off stage. The idea for the exhibition first came about when Mary met a dancer from the Corps De Ballet, in a Soho bar. She was intrigued by the contrast between the gruelling painful lifestyle with the fairy tale performance. Over 3 months, focused on the dancers offstage moments. The results are a combination of reality and glamour.

OFF POINTE has been exhibited at the Royal Opera House, London and will be shown at Dimbola Lodge in Isle of White and the San Francisco Art Exchange later this year.
