Wayne Thiebaud (américain, né le 15 novembre 1920 à Mesa), est un peintre connu pour ses natures mortes et ses peintures représentant de la nourriture. Né en Arizona, il effectue sa carrière sur la côte ouest. Thiebaud est célèbre pour ses descriptions d’objets du quotidien, mais il peint également des paysages de Californie et des paysages urbains.

Thiebaud étudie l’art publicitaire à l’école puis, après son diplôme universitaire, il est recruté en tant que dessinateur professionnel aux Studios Walt Disney. Ses années en tant que dessinateur influencent sa technique mature, tendant vers un réalisme stylisé décrivant des objets et des scènes de tous les jours. Bien que Thiebaud soit souvent associé au mouvement Pop Art, son travail ne critique pas l’imagerie icônique de la société américaine et de la culture de consommation, mais au contraire l’adopte. Thiebaud enseigne également au Sacramento Junior College et à l’Université de Californie à Davis pendant plusieurs années. Il vit et travaille actuellement en Californie.
