Received first artistic training under a local painter (Indianapolis) Barton S. Hays

1869

Studied at the National Academy of Design in New York under Lemuel P. Wilmarth

Attends the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich

Chase helped found the Society of American Painters in Pastel

1891 - 1902

Taught classes at Shinnecock Hills, Long Island

Chase was elected a member of The Ten, the association of prominent New York and Boston Impressionists
