Unique, bold and exciting contemporary studio/residence with commanding views of Cerro Pedernal, the surrounding mountain ranges and Chama River Valley, located in the heart of Georgia O’Keeffe country. Large-dimensioned, light-filled studio spaces create flexible areas for the whole spectrum of artistic pursuits, from sculpture and painting to music to writing. Featuring 12 private acres with views, mature landscaping and shade trees, the property has an open-plan, 2-bedroom studio/main residence and a 1-bedroom guest house. Completed in 2001, the main structure received the AIA Energy and Sustainability Award in 2006 and incorporates passive solar and low maintenance features. Designed by Campoamar Architects of San Francisco in conjunction with the artist-owner, and built of adobe, lumber, concrete, glass and steel, the concept draws inspiration from Anasazi cliff dwellings and Chacoan cultures, transforming ancient building strategies into a contemporary masterpiece.
