This one‐man exhibition is actually a rather rare event of several dimensions: (1) This is the latest series of tapestries in Edgar Boeves’ 67 years of religious interpretive art. (2) This is fiber art at its best, full of texture, color with cloth, leather and yarn sometimes painted for effect. (3) He has not had a gallery exhibition inviting the public to purchase his work in over 10 years. The last exhibition occurred in our gallery in Florida and Saugatuck.

The exhibition is in three parts, with the focus on the eight tapestries titled “Jesus as Healer “and the nine tapestries titled “The Beatitudes”. In addition, there are a few pieces from Boeve’s personal collection. His work is included in churches, seminaries, homes, public venues and more and is collected locally.

Edgar Boeve is the “Face of Art” at Calvin College. Now, 83 and retired from Calvin College where he formed the art programs starting in 1958‐‐ he remains active with commissions, writing, lecturing and supporting his love of religious art and is widely known in Christian Art circles way beyond the local venues.

The Opening and Artist Reception, at the Armstrong De Graaf International Fine Art, 403 Water Street on Main in Saugatuck on April 6, 2013 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m, is a great opportunity to view this extensive display and meet the artist. The show continues through May 15, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
