Naive Art: The Peace of the Inside Country The peace will conquere the big city. For that purpose the Galeria Jacques Ardies have selected 4 artists who spent their chilhood in the open country. The exhibition will be inaugurated on the 19 th. of may displaying around 50 artworks of Malu Delibo, Edivaldo, Constância Nery and Maria Guadalupe. This last painter will complete her hundred years and is still painting.

Guadalupe´s paintings tell scenes of her infancy in the small village of Monte Carmelo, in the state of Minas Gerais. On that time, her place didn´t have road, electricity, and people used to meet each other and had time to speak. Guadalupe his convinced she had a mission to make the world better thanks to her paintings. She say in jest: “It seems God have forgoten to call me. He wants I continues to paint.”

Malu Delibo likes to paint gatherings elaborated with a lot of details, and an almost perfect choice of colors. Her art is to be appreciated without hurry.

The Art of Constância Nery may remember farm´s workers from Europe but can be seen in the south of Brazil. The expressions of the people are most of the time happy, illustrating the typical optimism from Brazilian.

The only artist male is Edivaldo. He loves to depict tropical scenes, including waterfalls, big and quite lakes and the discret presence of people who seems well adapted and living in harmony.
