Kwanhoon Gallery is pleased to announce a major exhibition of recent paintings by Kim Jong-sook, entitled ARTIFICIAL LANDSCAPE_VARIATIONS. In this exhibition, Kim continues namely her visually and conceptually brilliant monochromatic acrylic paintings, embellished with faceted Swarovski Elements. Transcending time and place, Kim depicts a traditional Korean mountain-scape or a linear, abstract composition. It started with depictions of traditional landscape paintings-rural huts tucked amidst high peaks and deep valleys, and now includes still-life of Korean flora, as well as abstract compositions. To create the paintings, Kim Jong-sook hand-applies thousands of tiny, colored Swarovski crystals, in lines, patterns and shapes to the painted canvas.

Kim Jong-sook was born in Korea. She received PH. D in Fine Arts from Graduate School of Hong-ik University; MFA and BFA from College of Hong-ik University in Seoul, Korea. Public collections include Art Bank in National Museum of Contemporary Art, Mokam Museum, Hoseo University, Swarovski Austria and Swarovski Korea. Her work is sponsored by Swarovski Elements Korea, Swarovski Elements Austria, and Victor Co., Ltd.

The artist lives and works in Korea.
