The Philip Slein Gallery is finishing up its season with a group show of outstanding paintings by gallery artists Catherine Howe, Lawrence Carroll, Max Cole, Stuart Arends, John Zinsser, Richmond Burton, Ann Pibal, Sean Scherer, David Row, and Dylan Bailey.

Catherine Howe returns to the gallery with a preview of her upcoming fall exhibition. Lawrence Carroll just opened a show in Paris and is a featured artist at the first Vatican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Max Cole has had successful exhibitions recently in Santa Fe, Philadelphia, and Bonn. Stuart Arends returns with a fresh work from a series not yet seen in St. Louis.

John Zinsser has curated exhibitions that are currently on view in New York and Bonn; and along with Richmond Burton, returns with a major painting, as does Ann Pibal who was recently awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and won the Rappaport Prize at the DeCordova Museum. Sean Scherer, David Row, and Dylan Bailey are showing with us for the first time.

In addition, the gallery is pleased to present new work by local favorite and Left Bank Book Store founder Barry Leibman. Leibman's rich abstractions are inspired by tales of the Far East, especially Italo Calvino's "Invisible Cities," a novel in which Marco Polo and Kublai Kahn describe imaginary cities to each other.
