Praxis International Art is pleased to announce Heart Beats, an exhibition featuring recent works by Sol Aramendi, Antonia A. Pérez, and Lina Puerta. The artists will be present at the opening reception, which will be held on October 13, 2011 at 541 West 25th Street, from 6 to 8 pm.
The exhibition surrounds the visitor in an emotional landscape arising from the sensuality and strength of these three cutting edge female artists. From photography to mix-media and working with handicraft synthetic materials, the artists touch upon love, desire, and the longing for meaningful places, while building a path to intimate encounters.
Sol Aramendi (b. Argentina) presents series of photograph in which she recreates impressions of her life in New York. The artist constructs surreal stages featuring her alter ego in an undisclosed relationship with private objects, sometimes citing the work of other artists, as witnesses of her own life experiences. Also reproducing a colorful, eclectic, and seductive universe, Lina Puerta (b. New Jersey, USA) assembles hybrid shapes that combine natural and anatomical forms. Botanic Series brings back memories from her childhood spent within the Colombian jungle. Antonia A. Pérez (b. New York, USA) collects used plastic bags to create crocheted organic forms. Reminiscent of abstract and traditional languages, works such as Dishcloth and Black Lace insert us into her domestic liveliness.
