Biographie
1902 Born in Cincinnati, OH
1918 Moved to New York, NY
1918 - 1920 Studied illustration at the New York School of Applied Design for Women, New York, NY
1920 - 1924 Studied with Kenneth Hays Miller at the Art Students League, New York, NY
1931 Traveled with Kenneth Hays Miller and Reginald Marsh in Europe to study the Old Masters
1934 Leased a studio on Union Square (New York, NY) where she worked for the remainder of her career
1936 - 1937 Taught at the Art Students League as the only female full-time instructor
1938 Worked as a Muralist for the W.P.A., and did a mural for the US Post Office in New Lexington, OH
1943 Academy of Arts and Letters Award
1946 First woman to hold an executive position in the National Institute of Arts and Letters as vice-president
1979 Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts presented by President Jimmy Carter
