1882 Born: in Tarrytown, New York
1900 Graduated from the Horace Mann School, New York, NY
Attended William Merritt Chase Summer School of Art, Shinnecock, Long Island, NY
Enrolled in Columbia University and studied architecture, New York, NY
1901 - 1902 Attended William Merritt Chase Summer School of Art, Shinnecock, Long Island, NY
1903 Left Columbia and attended New York School of Art full-time, New York, NY
1905 Moved to Monhegan Island, ME, which remains his permanent address until 1910
1910 Taught at Monhegan Summer School of Art, Monhegan Island, ME; Travels to Newfoundland, Canada
1911 Moved to New York with his family and resumed work as an architectural draftsman
1911 Moved to Greenwich Village, New York, NY
1916 Began submitting drawings to Harper’s Weekly and Vanity Fair under the pseudonym “Hogarth, Jr.”
1918 Gained early membership in the Whitney Studio Club, New York, NY; Travelled to Alaska
1919 Returned to New York, NY. Established Rockwell Kent, Inc. (dissolved in 1922)
1927 Worked as editor for Creative Arts magazine
1966 Named to the Academy of the Arts of the U.S.S.R.
