1880 Born November 10 in New York of Polish-Jewish parentage
1896 Attended art classes at the Art Students League
1899 Attended night school where he began sculpting under George Grey Bernard
1905 Settled in London
1907 Became a British citizen
1912 - 1913 Met Picasso, Brancusi, Modigliani in Paris
1913 Became a founding member of the London Group
1913 Had his first solo show at the Twenty-One Gallery, Adelphi, London
1913 - 1916 Returned to England and worked near Hastings
1916 Lived and worked in London for the rest of his life after 1916
1927 Briefly visited New York to attend his one-man show at the Ferragil Gallery
1953 The Arts Council honoured him with a retrospective exhibition at the Tate Gallery
1954 Knighted
1959 Died August 19 in London
