Hong Kong International Art Fair

Exhibiting for the first time at Hong Kong Art Fair, Galerie Peter Kilchmann will showcase different positions in painting. Valérie Favre is renowned for her works on canvas that she develops partly on the basis of theatrical quotes or film scenes. Favre’s paintings move effortlessly between abstraction and figuration, such as the small Lapine-Papillon As A Girl, 2012, (20x50 cm) or the larger Bonnard Kuss, 2011 (170x130 cm). Armin Boehm explores the border areas of human perception with his haptic paintings on wood, in which he uses materials such as asphalt, metal powder and textiles along with oil to convey themes of darkness and light. Hernan Bas creates exuberant landscapes with lonely young men by combining the techniques of painting, airbrush, block and screen print. Melanie Smith is present with paintings from her Cityscape-Series. With acrylic enamel she transfers aerial photographs of cities onto MDF carriers. The different artists bring their distinctive angles to the field of painting, and thus complement each other in technique and content matter. The delicate object piece Escombro (Debris) of Teresa Margolles is shown in addition. With this very small artwork (3x1,8x1,8 cm), made of 1 carat gold and a wood chip from a destroyed house in Sichuan, Margolles commemorates the Sichuan earthquake of 2008.

Zum ersten Mal stellt die Galerie Peter Kilchmann an der Hong Kong Art Fair aus und präsentiert verschiedene Positionen der Malerei. Valérie Favre ist bekannt für ihre Arbeiten auf Leinwand, die sie zum Teil ausgehend von Film und Theater entwickelt. Favre’s Malereien bewegen sich mühelos zwischen Abstraktion und Figuration, so wie die kleinformatige Arbeit Lapine-Papillon As A Girl, 2012 (20x50 cm), oder das grössere Bild Bonnard Kuss, 2011 (170x130 cm). Armin Boehm erkundet die Grenzgebiete der menschlichen Wahrnehmung mit seinen haptischen Malereien auf Holz, für die er neben Öl auch Materialien wie Asphalt, Metallpulver und Textilien verwendet um Licht und Dunkel zu vermitteln. Hernan Bas kreiert seine üppigen Landschaften mit einsamen jungen Männern, indem er Malerei mit Airbrush, Model- und Siebdruck kombiniert. Von Melanie Smith gibt es Bilder aus ihrer Cityscape-Serie zu sehen. Mit Acrylemail überträgt sie Luftaufnahmen von Städten auf grossformatige MDF-Platten. Die verschiedenen Künstler haben ihre eigene, unverwechselbare Handschrift und komplementieren einander technisch und inhaltlich. Zusätzlich wird das delikate Objekt Escombro (Debris) von Teresa Margolles gezeigt. Mit diesem sehr kleinen Kunstwerk (3x1,8x1,8 cm), welches aus einkarätigem Gold und einem Holzsplitter von einem zerstörten Haus in Sichuan gefertigt ist, gedenkt Margolles dem Erdbeben in Sichuan von 2008.
