Private View - Tuesday 9 October, 6.00 - 8.00pm, Adam Gallery LONDON
Adam Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by acclaimed American artist, Sol LeWitt (1928-
2007).
Heralded as the pioneer of conceptual and minimal art, Sol LeWitt became known for transforming primary
colours and geometric shapes into formal compositions that developed a complexity through spatial
organisation.
This collection presented by Adam Gallery contains a selection of paintings, prints and sculptures, conveying
Lewitt’s vivid colours and dynamic geometric studies.
LeWitt came to fame in the late 1960s with his wall drawings and "structures" (a term he preferred instead of
"sculptures"). He has been the subject of hundreds of solo exhibitions in museums and galleries around the
world since 1965.
His works are found in the most important museum collections including: Tate Modern, London, Centre
Georges Pompidou, Paris and the Guggenheim and Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Sol LeWitt's most recent retrospective was organised by the San Francisco Museum of Art in 2000. The
exhibition traveled to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and Whitney Museum of American Art, New
York.
