Joan Miró    May 3 - May 28, 2011

To coincide with the eagerly anticipated retrospective at Tate Modern, Connaught Brown is delighted to present an important Joan Miró exhibition. Miró’s inclusive approach to picture-making is captured here in an extraordinary selection that traces his development through the tumultuous and ‘savage’ style of the late 1930s to the poetic refinement of his final years. Employed to drive forward his most daring concepts, the immediacy of Miró’s work allows for an intimate study of the artist's technique. The exhibition provides a new opportunity to review the career of this leading modernist figure, including both paintings and drawings alongside an iconic sculpture dating from the late 1960s. This is Connaught Brown’s second one-man show of Joan Miró, which follows the gallery’s landmark exhibition of sculpture in 2008.
