Wildlife, Landscapes and Shores of the New Forest
November 20 – 26, 2011
at 27 CORK STREET, London W1S 3NG
Frost & Reed presents a third Annual Exhibition of paintings and
watercolours by distinguished wildlife and landscape artist Andrew Stock
SWLA.
FROM COPSE TO COAST will take place at 27 Cork Street, London
W1S 3NG from November 20 – 26. The paintings in the exhibition explore the landscapes and coastal regions of the New Forest and the wildlife that inhabits this unique area. In over fifty works, Stock responds to the diverse landscape of the New Forest, its unknown dense woodlands, grassed glades and open heathlands. Once at the coast, he takes up the challenge offered by the changing waters of
the Solent, and along the way are his acclaimed watercolours of the birds and mammals that have made the New Forest their habitat and which have shaped its ecology.
Andrew Stock began to work in the New Forest only in recent years, but its unique nature, rich in birds and mammals and its wide
open spaces are a gift. From small to big, from the most elusive of birds, tracked down in a copse, to the freedom of vision that the coastline offers, this artist is in his element. In this exhibition, his talents find new expression and he emerges as a truly accomplished artist, whether working on a large scale as in ‘The Solent from Tanners Lane’ above, (oil on board, 36 x 48 inches) or on a delicate studies such as ‘Nuthatch’, right, (watercolour on paper, 8 x 6 inches).
