The Koi Affair - An On-Line Exhibition of a Select Group of Our Artists

Throughout Japanese history the koi or carp has been associated with the symbolism of perseverance, strength, courage and in other ways fortune, longevity and love. The year 2011 has brought Japan one of the most horrendous of natural disasters which has been experienced in modern times. There is no more an appropriate time than now to re-emphasise the symbolic nature of koi in the face of adversity, in the hope that strength, courage and love will conquer the great misfortunes.

We are happy to be able to bring together here a collection of koi works from five of our artists- Hamanishi Katsunori, Daniel Kelly, Shiomi Nana, Kojima Kimiko, and Kaneko Kunio.

Each of them work in a different mode of printing, from mezzotint to silkscreen to traditional woodblock printing, creating a distinct style of koi. The artworks range from large hangings to postcard size works, priced between £60 and £3000.
