Die Galerie Andrea Caratsch, Zürich präsentiert vom 8. Mai bis 27. Juli 2012 „Tutto“, eine dem italienischen Künstler Alighiero Boetti gewidmete Ausstellung. Dies ist bereits die dritte nach der Präsentation der zwei monumentalen Werke „Lavoro Postale“, 1993 und „Poesie con il Sufi Berang“, 1988/9 in 2004 und „Cieli ad alta quota“ in 2006. Die diesjährige Ausstellung beinhaltet bedeutende Werke, die von 1967 bis 1994 entstanden sind und alle Aspekte seines reichhaltigen Oeuvres veranschaulichen. Insbesondere wird Boetti’s lebenslange Faszination mit Spielen, Zahlen, der Sprache und Klassifizierungssystemen dargestellt, aber auch sein Engagement für das afghanische Volk.
Boetti wurde 1940 in Turin geboren und zog Anfang der siebziger Jahre nach Rom. 1971 eröffnete er das One Hotel in Kabul, wo auch die bis zu seinem Tode in 1994 währende Zusammenarbeit mit afghanischen Stickerinnen anfing.
Zahlreiche Ausstellungen in führenden internationalen Museen wurden ihm gewidmet, auch in der Schweiz im Kunstmuseum Luzern (1974 und 1992) und in der Kunsthalle Basel (1978). Zur Zeit ist eine Retrospektive seiner Arbeiten in der Tate Modern in London zu sehen (bis 27. Mai), die anschliessend im Museum of Modern Art in New York präsentiert wird (1. Juli – 1. Oktober 2012).

ALIGHIERO BOETTI: TUTTO

From May 8 to July 27 2012, Galerie Andrea Caratsch, Zurich is presenting „Tutto“ (“Everything”), an exhibition dedicated to the Italian artist Alighiero Boetti. This is yet the third show after the presentation of the two monumental works “Lavoro Postale”, 1993 and “Poesie con il Sufi Berang”, 1988/9 in 2004 and “Cieli ad alta quota” in 2006. This year, important works from 1967 to 1994 will be shown, highlighting all aspects of his prolific oeuvre. In particular, his fascination with games, numbers, words, language and classification systems will be exemplified, but also his strong engagement with the cause of the Afghan people.
Boetti was born in 1940 in Turin and moved to Rome in the beginning of the Seventies. In 1971, he opened the Hotel One in Kabul - also the beginning of his working relationship with Afghan embroiderers that lasted until his death in 1994.
His work has been exhibited in numerous leading international museums, also in Switzerland at the Kunstmuseum Luzern (1974 and 1992) and at the Kunsthalle Basel (1978). At the moment, the Tate Modern in London is showing a major retrospective of his work until May 27, the exhibition will then be travelling to the Museum of Modern Art, New York (July 1 – October 1, 2012).
