COATES WYLLIE will be presenting SAMPLE SALE, new paintings by Chris Wyllie on March 9, 2013.
Chris Wyllie’s work comments on the period 1948 – 1968, a time depicting the height of American culture and the pursuit of happiness. He describes the years following, 1968 – present, as “just past happy”, with his paintings of images of beauty and desire set on aging found objects. SAMPLE SALE further explores the concept of discarding the old in order to make room for the new, a theme Wyllie is constantly reminded of while working adjacent to the Fashion District and what he refers to as “Old Seventh Avenue”.
To fete the opening of SAMPLE SALE, Coates Wyllie will have an opening reception, Saturday, March 9, 6-9pm with artisanal cocktails. Please join us!
