SCHMIDT, SLEIN TEAM UP FOR BLOCKBUSTER ABSTRACTION EXHIBITION
Venerable art dealer Jim Schmidt has curated a major survey of abstract art for the Philip Slein Gallery. The exhibition features some of the most important abstract artists working today as well as some of the best St. Louis has to offer. Jim Schmidt has 40 years of art world experience, which is reflected in the broad scope of this exhibition. Schmidt wrote:
“Eight years ago the Philip Slein Gallery asked me to curate an exhibition reflecting what I saw as the best work being done by St. Louis artists. This year the gallery asked me to put together a show more national in scope, which reflected my long experience showing abstract art. There are 30 artists included in this show; there are at least 30 more that could be included. Many old friends are here, but also some fresh to the St. Louis experience.”
The list of artists include: Stuart Arends, Ford Beckman, Marco Breuer, Michael Byron, Louis Cameron, Lawrence Carroll, Max Cole, John Chamberlain, Steve DiBenedetto, Jill Downen, Carroll Dunham, Stephen Ellis, Adam Fuss, Dennis Hollingsworth, Mel Kendrick, Cheonae Kim, Jonathan Lasker, Eva Lundsager, Andrew Masullo, Suzanne McClelland, Antonio Murado, Ann Pibal, Steve Riedell, Alexander Ross, Mark Sheinkman, Erik Spehn, Michael Toenges, Sue Williams, Terry Winters.
