Henning, Gerhard

(b Stockholm, 27 May 1880; d Hellerup, 16 Sept 1967). Danish sculptor of Swedish birth. He trained in the painting trade in Sweden, later spending 1903–4 in Italy and France. As a young man he drew adventure series. In 1909 he settled in Denmark, becoming a Danish citizen in 1931. He was employed by the Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik (1904–14 and 1920–25), where he produced painterly refined small groups with embellished overglazing decoration influenced by French Rococo. He was awarded a medal for porcelain in the Paris Salon in 1912.
