Noort [Oort], van.
Dutch family of artists, active in the southern Netherlands. (1) Lambert van Noort and his son (2) Adam van Noort both worked in Antwerp, Lambert primarily as a designer of stained-glass windows and engravings, as an architect and, to a lesser extent, as a painter. Adam, whose fame rests mostly on his two famous pupils Rubens and Jordaens, was active as a painter and designer of engravings. Rubens probably spent less than a year with Adam and cannot have learnt much. Jordaens, on the other hand, had such a powerful personality that he influenced the late works of his teacher and future father-in-law. The following members have entries:
